FAQs

The sweet spot for hair removal.

1. What is sugaring and how does it work?

Sugaring is a non-permanent hair removal method, which removes hair from the root. First, a thin layer of our amazing ORGANIC sugar paste is spread over the skin. Here at getSUGARED the sugarista wears biodegradable gloves to spread the paste by hand. The sweet natural paste is slowly worked onto the skin. Next, the layer of sugar is rapidly flicked off in a movement with the direction of hair growth. Leaving the skin epilated and exfoliated.

2. What can be SUGARED?

It’s easier to say what can’t be sugared. Almost any area of the body can be sugared, including eyebrows, intimate area, legs, arms & feet. Whatever is waxed can be sugared.
Men’s beards cannot be sugared.

3. Why choose sugar over other non-permanent hair removal methods?

Because it is the purest, most harmless way to carry out hair removal. We are becoming more aware of the dangers of product toxicity, especially ones that come in contact directly with the skin. There are no dangers in using a sugar paste made out of lemon, sugar, and water. If anything, it is a beneficial treatment being covered in an organic sugar paste ☺ Post-sugaring effects also last longer compared to other non-permanent hair removal methods such as shaving. Sugaring also acts as a form of exfoliation to remove dead skin cells and leaves your skin smoother.

4. Does it hurt?

There will be some level of discomfort, especially if it is your first time. It is a very tolerable level of pain, given that you will be in my expert hands. The pain is short lived and only experienced with pulling the hair out. As soon as the hair is out – no more pain!

5. How often can I sugar?

You return to getSUGARED when there is approximately 3mm hair-length. Typically, most people will have their maintenance done every 3-5 weeks.

6. How long does it take?

It takes approximately 15-45minutes to complete intimate sugaring, depending on the amount of hair and your preference.

7. What if I am menstruating?

I recommend that you avoid intimate sugaring for the first 2 days of your bleeding, as you are highly sensitive during this period and your comfort is very important to me.

8. What if I am pregnant?

It is best to consult your doctor first before you have your service done, but it is generally safe to have your service done after the 1st trimester. And sugar paste is completely organic and non-toxic.

9. Are there any health conditions that I need to disclose before the appointment?

Yes, please inform me if you have been applying/consuming any Accutane, Retin A, AHA, glycolic acid or supplements, have any skin allergies and/or have undergone Chemotherapy or radiation treatments.
